You are right in stating that if all the money spent on clean coal was given to alternatives like wind, solar, geothermal, ocean energies and nuclear, we would be well en route toward a low carbon future.

The U.S. could already be well on its way to self-sufficiency if solar and wind power were given the same tax breaks as traditional energy companies. And yes, energy efficiency or conservation.
