A huge wind energy project in the North Sea
According to a Netherlands based agency, the wind energy potential of the North Sea is superior to the total energy provided by the Persian gulf and would enable Northern Europe to become energy independent.
With 13,400 TWh per year, this would indeed be more than the 11,300 TWh equivalent energy coming in from the Middle East. It would require 38 % of the sea area and would be a restricted zone for fishing, thus preserving biodiversity.
I wonder if it could be combined with something like Vivace or other energy sources from the oceans. That would be great. Many thanks to Meryn Stol for submitting this most interesting news.
