a Viessmann Heat pump As Eurobserv’ER published a market barometer for heat pumps I thought it might be the occasion to have a look at this most interesting and promising technology which already accounts for nearly 9 GW th of capacity in Europe.

With over 100,000 systems installed every year throughout the European Union, heat pumps can both heat and cool houses or buildings in an efficient and environmentally friendly way.

state-of-renewable-energies-in-europe-eurobserver-reportEurObserv’ER published its eighth report on the state of renewable energies in Europe. Both in French and English, it demonstrates the sector is vibrant and is just taking off.

As there are too many renewable energy solutions to be handled in a single article, I will only present you here the findings of the report on solar photovoltaïc, wind and geothermal.

solar_thermal.jpgAccording to EurObserv’ER, an organism from the European Union, solar thermal energy saw its demand grow by no less than 44 percent in 2006 in the European Union.

This represents more than three million square meters of panels installed in a year.

Huge differences occur between countries. For instance, Germany lead this increase by installing nearly 1.5 million square meters of panels. France comes second with 300,000 square meters.
