Welcome ! As a young French Marketing professional with a Master's in International Management I have been selecting since January 2007 the latest headlines and best researches on sustainable development, climate change, cleantech and the world energy sector. Sounds great ? Don't hesitate to subscribe now !

Further to the decision Germany took on Monday about nuclear energy, I wrote an opinion piece for Cleantechies. I hope you will like and share it.  As you can imagine, I am not really approving. Here it goes :

” You may surely know it by now : Germany decided to phase out completely all its nuclear power plants by 2022. This is done for political reasons as the local Greens are gaining power. ”

” Some people are cheering as they believe these are great news for the environment. I, however, believe this is utterly wrong for the reasons I will outline in today’s article.

One of my previous posts was useful as an answer to a discussion on CleanTechies, so I decided to repost it there :  ” It has been previously stated here in an article by Crisp Green that generating energy from poop is unlikely. “

” I disagree. It seems that the idea is not too far-fetched. The New York Times published an article going in that direction. Indeed why buy foreign natural gas when we have ample reserves just next door? “

As always, please check out the full article. All ratings and comments are greatly appreciated and I look forward to reading from you there.

3721722939_acaa232a5dHere is my latest post for CleanTechies : According to a new report [Fr] from the ADEME ( the French Environment and Energy Management Agency ) 90,000 jobs have been created in the French green growth sectors between 2006 and 2008.

These jobs have been created mostly in energy conservation and the development of renewable energies. Energy conservation and renewable energies sectors grew by 28 percent between 2006 and 2008.

This market represented that year a 50 billion euros ($75 billion) market. It could represent up to 90 billion euros ($135 billion) by 2012. To read out more, please read the full article there.

oil-derrickFor my latest post for CleanTechies I propose a reflection further to an interesting op ed Thomas L. Friedman wrote on the New York Times on why America should tax more gasoline.

As I noted earlier US drivers pay less than ten euro cents per liter of tax when their German, British, Italian, Turkish or French counterparts pay as much as 60 to 70 cents per liter.

the-uk-low-carbon-transition-planMy post on the UK Low Carbon Transition Plan in July was short, way too short for such a news as a major economy is committing itself to cut its greenhouse gases emissions by 34 percent by 2020 compared to 1990 levels.

Using all means at its disposal – energy efficiency, renewables, nuclear, electric cars, clean coal -  the United Kingdom is determined to take the lead on climate change mitigation.

This is a good omen for Copenhagen ! To read the full post, click here. If you enjoy reading this post please share it via your favorite social bookmarking site and rate it ! ;)

Singapore-skyline-waterFor this month’s article on CleanTechies we are moving from cleantech in France to focus on water management in Singapore as I read Erik Orsenna’s book on water. There are many interesting things to learn there.

From massive rainwater harvesting to water treatment with 15 reservoirs and recycling and desalination, the island city covers 60 percent of its water needs indigenously and imports the remaining from the neighboring Malaysia.

euros-notesI have the pleasure to announce you that my second article for CleanTechies have been published. After writing about the wind energy sector in France, this one is about the future carbon tax. Here is a short extract:

” France is currently thinking of enacting a carbon tax to increase climate change mitigation efforts. If enacted, it would be applied to the consumption of energy in general. ”

wind-turbines-france I would like to announce that my first article at CleanTechies has been published today. This is both a huge pleasure and a honor to write for such a blog. Here is an extract:

According to an article [Fr] from the AFP, the installed wind power capacity in France reached 4,000 MW. In line with the targets set by the Grenelle, up to 25 GW will have to be installed by 2020.

As you saw with my previous post, Daryl Warner Laux from Verda Vivo wrote a great article for this blog. I returned her the favor and wrote one for her.

Called A new Apollo program, it focuses on how the United States can invent a low carbon energy mix by focusing on energy efficiency and conservation as well as on renewable energy sources.

Summarizing nearly two years of research on this country, this article is one of my all time favourite. Read it directly there. Hope you will enjoy it.

This is a huge privilege for me to present you today the first guest post written for Elrst. Her author, Daryl Warner Laux and I have been exchanging mails and views for the past months.

Verda Vivo, Daryl’s blog, reflects her passion for environmental issues, climate change, conservation, pollution, recycling, organics and “going green”.

I recently asked her if she would be interested in writing for this humble blog. To both my pleasure and honor, she agreed. Continue »
