Welcome ! As a young French Marketing professional with a Master's in International Management I have been selecting since January 2007 the latest headlines and best researches on sustainable development, climate change, cleantech and the world energy sector. Sounds great ? Don't hesitate to subscribe now !

I love the picture Earthrise. Since I first discovered it back to 2007, it has become the central part of my communications; It is featured on my Twitter account, my About.me page, my business cards and on the header of this website.

So when Andrew Revkin from the New York Times tweeted about the “ Nice video assembly of Apollo 8 astronaut audio & photos leading to iconic “EARTHRISE” image “ I just had to click.

To say the least, I wasn’t disappointed as this making of clearly explains how such a beautiful image was created by the Apollo 8 crew. Continue »

I was mentioning last week a documentary called The Thorium Dream, produced by Motherboard.tv. Lasting less than half an hour it is an absolute must-watch to grab the potential of this technology.

I know we shouldn’t cringe to just one solution. But I now believe that nuclear risk and waste free is one day possible. Thorium is already being used in India, and I believe it will be used more and more.

While we are waiting for thorium to be ready for commercialization and its mass use, we should work massively on efficiency and renewables. Continue »

While reading Climate Progress I came across a must-see speech from Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, from Rhode Island. As the description on Youtube notes :

” There are some laws that Congress can change. The laws of nature aren’t among them. While lobbyists continue to call for more and more “second” opinions, Sheldon points out to his colleagues that the scientific community is solidly behind the fact that climate change is a real threat.

This speech clearly contrasts with the environmental bashing of most Republicans and most Democrats keeping quiet on those very issues. Please watch this video, please share it ! Continue »

While reading the tweets of the people I follow, one from Andrew Revkin got my attention : “ H. sapiens, innovator: Solar “light bulbs” from water-filled soda bottles brighten tin-roofed slums.  “

This was how I got introduced to Isang Litrong Liwanag ( “A Liter of Light” ), one of the most brilliant ideas I came across while writing for this blog. The tweet was followed by a link to a Youtube video  – watch it below.

This is so great CleanTechnica  and Ecopreneurist wrote about it and the project got featured on Reuters (see below as well for another video). Continue »

I recently wrote about Al Gore’s new project, The Climate Reality Project. It took place on September 14th and gathered more than 8.6 million people all over the world. Oddly enough, little to nothing was said or heard about in France.

The one-hour presentation by Al Gore reminded me of An Inconvenient Truth. I would even call it the 2.0 version of this great movie. For this, I am urging you to watch the presentation below. (Watch the two first minutes then go to the 7th minute)

More events will take place in the future. Meanwhile, Maggie L. Fox, President & CEO of  the Climate Reality Project provides us with ways to act. Continue »

With the incoming energy scarcity crisis, we are all due to rediscover one way or another the many advantages of biking as fueling our cars will get more and more expansive. Bikes are great, but a tad dangerous when the night comes.

Luckily for all the bikers of the night, Treehugger have been publishing an article on not one but two great ideas : Revolights – which is currently looking for funds – and AURA, a project by two students of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

Both systems put lights into the wheels themselves. I don’t know about you but these projects make me think of the movies Tron. Below you will find the videos of the projects. Continue »

Al Gore certainly contributed to my involvement in cleantech and climate change mitigation. So when he is launching a new campaign – called The Climate Reality Project - I believe this deserves some mention here.

Furthermore, I am amazed on how little attention this got. There were only 1,520 people who watched the video on their website so far. This should get at least a thousand times more! Come on, let’s spread the word!

Launched on Tuesday, the project was the occasion for the Nobel-Prize winner behind An Inconvenient Truth to be interviewed in one of my favorite climate blog, Climate Progress. Continue »

As you surely know now Renault – a French carmaker – plans to sell four different electric cars this year and next. The first model, the  Fluenze Z.E. ,  will be available in September.

To this effect, the company presented today an excellent and hilarious advertisement, that will hopefully stays in everyones’ mind when it comes to THE technology of this decade, electric cars.

I have been thinking for some time now that electric cars have a really revolutionary potential (and I am not the only one to think so). This one-minute video clearly shows why. Continue »

I think this is a record of some sort as I am only publishing today my selection of astrophotographies for February… Anyway, here is my selection of the best pictures of the NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD).

This month is a bit special as my favorite is a video : ” How big is our Sun compared to other stars? In a dramatic and popular video featured on YouTube, the relative sizes of planets and stars are shown from smallest to largest. “

The video is visible in the full post below. This clearly demonstrates how infinitesimal we are and how our beautiful planet is tiny, thus the need to protect our ability to live on it… Continue »

Sometimes a short video does better at explaining things than a long text. This is again the case with a video showing the five-year average global temperature anomalies from 1880 to 2010.

Using data collected by the NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, the US National Climatic Data Center, the Japanese Meteorological Agency and the Met Office Hadley Centre in the UK it clearly shows a rapidly warming trend.

Here are the explanations of the video. I wonder how deniers and skeptics could keep going with such videos and after the tragic events that took place in January in both Australia and Brazil

“We are sharing our resources in a very inequitable way. In a few decades, the relationship between the environment, resources and conflict may seem almost as obvious as the connection we see today between human rights, democracy and peace.” — Wangari Maathai
